My name is Chelsea. I grew up in the foothills of the Drakensberg, aka, the middle of nowhere. The closet town was an area called Howick. A place infamously referred to as the “Stairway to Heaven,” though not for the reasons you may think. It most certainly wasn’t named after one of the best rock songs of all time by Led Zeppelin . Rather, Howick earned its catchphrase due to the vast number of retirement villages and subsequently the vast number of people dying. Anyway, there wasn’t much to do as a child, and so this “odd” little town was one of the biggest contributors to my love for literature.
Between book pages I frequently have affairs with fictional lovers and build castles in the air. I am an avid reader, who loves to vicariously live through characters I read about. When the book ends, I’m devastated. I obsess over it and re-read it.
I am currently studying English and Media and Writing at the University of Cape town, previously having studied Journalism at CityVarsity.
